Holiday Trading Hours and Christmas Deliveries

Imprints Booksellers - Tuesday, December 12, 2017
Season's Readings from your local indie bookseller

Dear readers,

This is just a quick note to let you know that as of today, Tuesday 12 December, 2017, we can no longer guarantee Australia Post deliveries prior to the Christmas public holidays. We still offer free in store collection on every online order and will continue to process orders right through until Christmas Eve. If you have any questions about an order you've placed, please call us on (08) 8231 4454 to check the status.

In our final message of the year, we'd like to thank you for the immense support you've given us throughout 2017. From a record-breaking Love Your Bookshop Day, to book signings with some of Australia's leading thinkers and cultural icons, the success of the past year is evidence of what we can achieve with a passionate community behind us.

With every book you purchase, every event you attend, and each new friend you introduce to your favourite local bookshop, you help to strengthen the culture of independent bookselling here in Adelaide. With the recent launch of an online retail giant upon our shores, we expect competition to be fierce in 2018. But we're confident that there remains a place for independent bookshops in Australia’s cultural landscape, because we offer something no online retailer can: air-conditioning.

In all seriousness though, thanks for everything you do to help us grow. We simply would not be here without you, and we look forward to plying you with reading material, impulse purchases, and unsolicited advice for many years to come.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous Christmas and New Year,

Jason, Katherine & Kara

Join History SA and Imprints Booksellers for a special Talking History event

Imprints Booksellers - Friday, October 21, 2016

'Out of the Ivory Tower: ways of telling history' with Nick Brodie and Kiera Lindsey

Historians Dr Nick Brodie and Dr Kiera Lindsey have found popular success with their recent books on forgotten or little-known happenings from Australia's past. Brodie’s latest book, 1787: The Lost Chapters of Australia's Beginnings, challenges our national understanding of the ‘discovery’ of the continent, while Lindsey's compelling tale, The Convict’s Daughter: The Scandal that Shocked a Colony, recounts a meticulously researched story from the author’s own family. Join us, as these two rising stars of Australian history share their secrets in a special Talking History event:

Monday 24 October 5.30 for 6pm-7.30pm
Drill Hall, Torrens Parade Ground
Onsite parking (entrance off Victoria Drive)
Admission is FREE but registrations required

The Adelaide Festival of Ideas | 21-23 October, 2016

Imprints Booksellers - Monday, October 17, 2016

The Adelaide Festival of Ideas returns this weekend with around 70 thinkers tackling topics ranging from the precarious future of the world's citrus industry to contemporary challenges facing democracy and human rights. The vast majority of sessions are free though a few highlights are worth shelling out the modest ticket price. In particular, we recommend Erin Brockovich in conversation with Phillip Adams and a special session celebrating poetry, music and story telling on the theme of Home. You can find details of speakers, events and sessions online or collect your old fashioned paper-and-ink program in store. This year, as in years past, Imprints Booksellers are pleased to partner with the festival as its official bookseller. You'll find us hosting a pop-up bookshop in the AFoI marquee, located near Elder and Bonython Halls. We hope to see you there!
