This is your renewal. This is your regrowth ...

You may come into this softly or bristling with thorns, beneath the light of the sun or the moon and the stars, so long as you always remember it is never too late to return to the root of your heart and begin again.

Broken hearts, false starts, new beginnings: nothing lost. The philosophy of Beau Taplin - and the beauty of his words and books - has made him of one of Australia's most internationally recognised voices on love and life, and a social-media sensations.

This collection was first published in 2016 and has already sold more than 10,000 copies. Now available through retailers in Australia for the first time.

In this stunning collection of new poems, Mary Oliver returns to the imagery that has defined her life's work, describing with wonder both the everyday and the unaffected beauty of nature.

Herons, sparrows, owls, and kingfishers flit across the page in meditations on love, artistry, and impermanence. Whether considering a bird's nest, the seeming patience of oak trees, or the artworks of Franz Marc, Oliver reminds us of the transformative power of attention and how much can be contained within the smallest moments.

At its heart, Blue Horses asks what it means to truly belong to this world, to live in it attuned to all its changes. Humorous, gentle, and always honest, Oliver is a visionary of the natural world.

Mark Tredinnick is a poet, nature writer and essayist. He lives and writes along the Wingecarribee River, southwest of Sydney, and travels widely as a poet and teacher. He was the winner in 2011 of the Montreal Poetry Prize and in 2012 of the Cardiff Poetry Prize. He has also won two Premier’s literary awards, the Blake and the Newcastle Poetry Prizes, and the Calibre Essay Prize. In 2010 he was short listed for the Prime Minister’s Literary Prize for non-fiction. Mark’s third poetry collection Body Copy will be published in 2014 by Pitt Street Poetry; he is at work on a fourth collection of poems and a memoir, Reading Slowly at the End of Time.

‘I’ve rarely written a poem into which a bird did not want to fly, and there are equally few into which those dear to me did not want to wander. There are many such poems in Bluewren Cantos. But where a poem starts, and with whom, is much less than everything it wants to say. One life stands for all such lives; one love for all such loves; one time for all such times; one place for all such places. “I have made a tribe of my true affections,” Stanley Kunitz wrote in ‘Layers’. Here are some of my tribe: birds, rivers, children, moments, loves.’

In Braiding the Voices, Peter Steele brings to bear a lifetime of reading, writing, and teaching prose and poetry. With gusto and focus, these essays concert poets and poems of different tempers and aspirations. They are by Gwen Harwood, Les Murray, Peter Porter, Vincent Buckley and, further afield, Fleur Adcock, Richard Wilbur, Anthony Hecht, W.S. Merwin, Deborah Randall, Ben Belitt, Norman MacCaig, R.S. Thomas, P.J. Kavanagh, Seamus Heaney and Gerard Manley Hopkins. The writing of some of his own poems is also addressed. Characteristically, Steele refers copiously also to much else.

The book investigates some of the ways in which individual poets have found what they most wanted to say, and how their art takes its place in the general conversation of humanity itself. Applauding the dexterity and the variety with which this feat is carried off by the poets, Steele's distinctive prose is deliberately fashioned to be as hospitable to insight as possible.

    Author: LIMON ADA
    Format: PAPER COVER
    Publishing status: ACTIVE TITLE

Bright Dead Things examines the chaos that is life, the dangerous thrill of living in a world you know you have to leave one day, and the search to find something that is ultimately “disorderly, and marvelous, and ours.”A book of bravado and introspection, of 21st century feminist swagger and harrowing terror and loss, this fourth collection considers how we build our identities out of place and human contact—tracing in intimate detail the various ways the speaker’s sense of self both shifts and perseveres as she moves from New York City to rural Kentucky, loses a dear parent, ages past the capriciousness of youth, and falls in love. Limón has often been a poet who wears her heart on her sleeve, but in these extraordinary poems that heart becomes a “huge beating genius machine” striving to embrace and understand the fullness of the present moment. “I am beautiful. I am full of love. I am dying,” the poet writes. Building on the legacies of forebears such as Frank O’Hara, Sharon Olds, and Mark Doty, Limón’s work is consistently generous and accessible—though every observed moment feels complexly thought, felt, and lived.
